Communities in the Shuswap area
Blind Bay
An unincorporated community located on the bay of the same name. Located at the southwest end of Shuswap Lake, 29 km (18 mi) northwest of Salmon Arm and 6 km (4 mi) east of Sorrento. The bay, centrally located in the beautiful South Shuswap area with surrounding mountain ranges offers a natural setting with stunning lake views. The South Shuswap is a retirement community and has a large population over the age of 55.
Notable establishments in the community include Shuswap Lake Estates Golf & Country Club, Shuswap Marina, breathtaking Shuswap Lake Provincial Park, White Lake Provincial Park, and a highly popular annual Canada Day celebration with activities and enjoyment for the entire family including evening fireworks.

Celista
Celista is a small town set amongst picturesque backdrops on the north shores of the Shuswap Lake. The local school is North Shuswap Elementary school, which has grades one to seven and has an annual enrollment of just over 100 students. This region teems with outdoor adventure activities such as hiking, mountain biking, golfing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling, and of course, there are water sports as well. In recent years the exploding tourism industry has taken over and the majority of the residences are now owned for summer use only. Residents will be quick to tell visitors that summer days are best-spent boating, swimming, and fishing in the clear waters of Shuswap Lake.
Notable establishments within the community include Celista Hall, (used to host local meetings and a display of local musical talent), Celista Estate Winery, Kokopelli Internet Café, Sunnyside Supermarket, Naomi’s Beads, and Sun Beach Water Sports Equipment. There is also a community skating rink during the winter on Meadow Creek Road and is home to the world-famous Sockeye salmon run on the Adams River.

Eagle Bay
A small community located on the Shuswap Highland Peninsula on the southern shore of Shuswap Lake. The community is situated across the lake from Crowfoot Mountain on the southern shore of Shuswap Lake. It is 24 kilometers east of Sorrento. In Eagle Bay, you can enjoy the best of the shores of Shuswap Lake as well as the majestic Monashee Mountains and Cascade Falls waterfall right in your back yard.
Notable establishments in the community include Eagle Bay Camp, Adirondack Saddle Tours, and Eagle Bay Hall that hosts local live music on the 4th Saturday of each month from May to September.

Notch Hill
Step into the history of the Shuswap on Notch Hill! This unique community was once the main route of travel prior to the build of the Trans Canada Highway, and still offers a beautiful lifestyle opportunity or a great place for a visit. In Notch Hill, you will find heritage buildings standing the tests of time including, Notch Hill Hall, the White Church, and a one-room schoolhouse. The Notch Hill Hall was built in 1909 by pioneers of the Shuswap and remains open all year round serving the community as a great space for weddings, gatherings, activity groups, craft fairs, youth clubs, and theatrical productions.

Scotch Creek
Scotch Creek is located on the northern shore of Shuswap Lake 28 km (17 mi) east of Chase.
The small town is located on the north shore of Shuswap Lake and is home to one of the most popular parks in the province of British Columbia, Shuswap Lake Provincial Park. Shuswap Provincial Park lies on the old delta of Scotch Creek. This popular tourist destination has one kilometer (.6mi) of sandy beach, a large grass recreation area, a boat launch, and a self-guiding nature trail.
Notable establishments within the community include BeTeased Food Truck, Copper Island Inn-Pub and Motel, Scotch Creek Family Fun Centre and a seasonal Friday evening farm and craft market that features local treasures and live entertainment weekly.

Sorrento
Sorrento is an unincorporated community perched on the south shore of beautiful Shuswap Lake, 28 km west of Salmon Arm and 80 km east of Kamloops. Long renowned for its recreation and retirement lifestyle, the area has an outstanding artisan community, fabulous lake fishing, water sports and boating, scenic green landscapes, specialty, hobby, and traditional farming.
Notable establishments in the community include Sorrento Village Farmers’ Market Saturday mornings from May through Thanksgiving, Crannog Ales (the only certified organic brewery in Canada), Recline Ridge Winery, Sorrento Center; which hosts the weeklong Shuswap Lake Festival of the Arts, as well as hosts the Sorrento Blue Grass Festival in August.

Sicamous
Conveniently located on the shores of two beautiful lakes; Mara Lake and Shuswap Lake Sicamous have earned the title of House boating Capital of Canada.
Both these lakes offer a wide variety of activities for the BC summer visitor, from swimming and water skiing to house boating and exploring. The area surrounding both Shuswap Lake and Mara Lake has an abundance of mountains, lush valleys, and rivers to explore; a wide variety of fish and wildlife that can be seen at various times of the year in the more remote areas.

Tappen
Beautiful open spaces and fresh clean air make Tappen a great place to call home. Tappen is across the lake from Salmon Arm, just off the Trans Canada Highway. Being an agricultural community by nature, here you will find open pastures with large acreages and hobby farms. This rural area rests in a quiet mountain valley while still resting close to the shores of Shuswap Lake.

White Lake
Nestled in British Columbia’s scenic mountains, some twenty-two kilometers north of Salmon Arm, and about seven kilometers north-east off the Trans-Canada Highway on White Lake Road, you will find White Lake and Little White Lake. White Lake has crystal clear water, large areas of marl shoals and Rainbow Trout Nestled in British Columbia’s scenic mountains, some twenty-two kilometers north of Salmon Arm, and about seven kilometers north-east off the Trans-Canada Highway on White Lake Road, you will find White Lake and Little White Lake is known to exceed ten pounds. The combination of those attributes that have built the lake a reputation for excellent recreational rainbow trout fishing – it is one of the top three angling lakes in the province in terms of angler days. White Lake is popular for fly fishing and trolling in the summer, and also for ice fishing during the winter. The Western Painted Turtle is the only native pond turtle left in British Columbia and therefore makes up an important component of the Lake’s biodiversity. Painted Turtles typically occupy the shallow water zones of ponds, lakes, sloughs, and slow-moving streams. A dirt road runs the length of the lake along the north side. About halfway down the lake is White Lake Provincial Park.
